Fantasy Football Fixture Planning: Use Difficulty Ratings as a Guide

What a difficulty rating means

The official Fantasy Premier League Draft help page describes FDR as a model of perceived opponent difficulty, reviewed weekly. It is a planning aid, not a guarantee of goals, clean sheets or fantasy points. A favorable fixture can still produce a poor result, and different fantasy games can use different ratings.

Count the right matches

A club's European game does not automatically earn points in a domestic-league fantasy game. Check the competition rules before counting fixtures. The official FPL help pages explain blank and double gameweeks; the tracker's local calendar week is not the same thing as a fantasy gameweek. Use the game's deadline and fixture allocation as the authority.

Illustrative comparison

Player A has two appealing opponents but uncertain minutes. Player B has a tougher opponent and a more stable role. The calendar alone cannot settle the decision. Write down the assumptions you are making about availability, minutes and competition eligibility before committing a transfer. This example describes a decision process, not a recommended transfer or predicted return.

A practical sequence

• Read the official deadline and scoring rules.
• Check confirmed fixtures within that gameweek.
• Check current club availability news.
• Use difficulty ratings alongside role and minutes.
• Recheck postponements before the deadline.
